Is this camera the gateway to cinematic movies? | Kodak Super 8 Camera
The highly anticipated Kodak Super 8 camera is finally here. Is this camera the gateway to filmmakers shooting on actual film?
After 25 years as a filmmaker and colorist, the release of Kodak’s new Super 8mm camera became the perfect opportunity to shoot film for the first time in my life!!!
And on a modern iteration of a motion picture film camera.
In this video you get to actually see the film look firsthand, learn how to shoot film, understand its pros and cons, and test all the modern features that this little camera brings to the old 8mm format.
But like many things you try for the first time.. everything didn’t turn out as I expected 👎🏼
Join me in my dream of chasing the elusive film look. See digital compared to film by shooting test charts and a sneak peek of Cinema Grade 2.

Using AI for denoising is amazing. However, using it on old 360 or 480 is going to give marginal results because the facial information just isn’t there to work with on longer shots. they need to come up with AI where you could take a clip with people in it and then feed the AI historical photographs of their face at much higher quality levels. That would provide the missing video data. I’m upscaling a film I made on 480 and the results I’m getting are incredible. I have a huge advantage though, I still have the original source materials/editing and that footage is generally shot and lite well. I have test clips blown up to 2160x1440 that look great for projection. But it takes a lot of experimenting. For instance, part of the upscaling involves sharpen which makes the image look a lot more contrasty. I had to remove contrast from the original material first…it’s time consuming.

Always searching your tutorial with Color Grading on UA-cam and following it. I just have question. I have used the same file you've used on the first tutorial(man in the city) and I noticed that yours on the tutorial is a little washed out compared to the video available on artgrid. Do you have the link of the one that is washed out, as the one on the link you've shared has a bit of color to it already. Thanks in advance!
